Brent: Brent is new to the Greenleaf Singers having just joined in 2009, but he is not new to music. Growing up, he sang in school choirs and in church, which culminated with madrigals and show choir for three years in high school. After that, he enrolled at Indiana University Bloomington with thoughts of becoming a choir teacher. There, he performed with several choirs including one semester with the Singing Hoosiers and a spot in the chorus for a production of Berlioz' Damnation of Faust. After realizing music was more of a hobby, he returned home, attending community college and singing in community theatre productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (as one of the brothers), and The Fantasticks (as Matt). He kept singing while attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he graduated in 2007 with a degree in Journalism.

Brent moved to St. Louis to work for a non-profit news Web site in early 2008, lives alone in the city (unless you count the house plants and a spectacular view, which he does) and enjoys exploring the urban area and all it has to offer.

Doug: Doug looks forward to his second season in the Greenleaf Singers with great anticipation! Since 1990, he has enjoyed performing in and producing musical theater productions, mostly with the Archangel Players at St. Gabriel's. He was also in the Rivertown Sound Barbershop Quartet for nine years. Now, the Greenleaf Singers have ushered in a whole new, yet very old form of a capella music -- madrigal ensemble singing. Doug's great appreciation for the musical arrangements leaves him always longing for more. Even better, the madrigal dinners and Renn Faire are so much fun! Many heartfelt thanks to Ted for the countless hours he has spent selecting and arranging music, making recordings, negotiating contracts... the list goes on. THANK YOU, TED! Thanks also to Doug's wife, Joan for tolerating the medieval garb after the candystripe shirts of the quartet. Sorry, babe. Gotta take one for the team.

Ted: Ted began singing in choirs at the age of nine. He sang soprano until his voice changed. During all four years of high school, Ted sang in the choirs at Lutheran High School South. College provided Ted with opportunities to sing in several collegiate ensembles. His introduction to Madrigals and early music came from singing bass in the Chamber Singers at Southwest Missouri State University and the Madrigal Ensemble at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, which toured London, England, in January of 1998. He is the Adult Choir Director at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olivette, MO. Ted joined Greenleaf for its 26th season in August of 2001, then became Artistic Director in 2003. He has enjoyed creating fantastic music with a great group of people and is looking forward to the new season.

Ted was the Choral/Vocal Music Director at a Catholic high school in St. Louis, MO from 2000 through 2003. He then became a stay-at-home daddy. However, from October 2005 through May 2009, he taught part-time at Gateway Academy in Chesterfield, MO. Ted was blessed with the opportunity to study counterpoint and composition at the European American Musical Alliance program in Paris, France, during the month of July 2005. He completed his Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in Choral Studies and Composition at Webster University. Ted is married to Connie, who teaches elementary Physical Education and they have two beautiful children, Ellie and Evan. If interested, take a tour of Ted's personal website at Ted's Music Realm!
